Shoreline Shader Breakdown (Cyanilux)
Cyanilux
Visit resource ↗Description
Shoreline Shader Breakdown is a December 2024 Cyanilux post merging earlier shoreline water threads into one stylized coast tutorial for Unity URP Shader Graph.
It compares depth-texture versus UV shoreline meshes, then walks approaching wave lines, synced swash motion, Voronoi on the swash, and wet-sand darkening via low-alpha blending. Optional Blender steps cover shoreline strip UV unwrapping for the mesh-based path.
For intermediate artists comfortable with Shader Graph, depth reconstruction, and transparency; refraction and caustics are out of scope, with pointers to other Cyanilux water breakdowns.
Sections use annotated graph screenshots and material tweaks, free on cyanilux.com without paywall.
Widely linked in Unity shader communities when you need readable shoreline foam and wet beach sand in URP prototypes.
