Description

Toon Glass Shader Breakdown is a January 2020 Cyanilux Shader Graph post (updated October 2023) that fakes cartoon window glass: solid diagonal lines on a transparent quad that shift when the camera translates.

It uses an Unlit transparent surface with Offset, Scale Multiplier, A/B line-count, Line Width, and Line Alpha properties. The graph subtracts camera world position, builds tangent-space diagonal gradients, then Power and Fraction nodes to stack line bands before Step and alpha output.

For intermediate URP users who know Shader Graph transparency; Notes also cover HDRP with Absolute World versus Camera Relative World.

Intro, pipeline Notes, Properties, and an annotated Breakdown with node previews (including Shader Graph v10.3+ 2D preview tips). Free on cyanilux.com.

Handy for stylized UI glass; widely shared among Unity shader communities.
