How to Not be Scared of SPIR-V

Visit resource ↗Description
Vulkanised 2026 talk by Spencer Fricke of LunarG on demystifying SPIR-V for graphics developers. This URL is a recorded conference session.
It compares SPIR-V to LLVM IR between shading languages and Vulkan drivers, then covers SSA, assembler/disassembler tools, SPIR-V Visualizer, spirv-cross, validation levels, capabilities versus Vulkan features, module layout, and a worked opcode-parsing example for integer-add bit widths. Bonus notes include grammar files, shader versus kernel flavors, structured control flow, and version pitfalls.
Aimed at intermediate Vulkan programmers who ship shaders but avoid reading SPIR-V. Compiler expertise is not required.
Free YouTube recording with slides and audience questions. Standard SPIR-V SDK utilities suffice to follow later.
Useful when debugging modules, validation failures, or tooling gaps without treating the compiler as opaque.

Custom Render Passes in Unity is Alexander Ameye's July 2021 ameye.dev note on URP ScriptableRendererFeature and ScriptableRenderPass boilerplate, heavily commented where Unity SRP documentation still feels sparse. The sample applies a two-pass box blur: blit camera color to a temporary buffer, blur vertically then horizontally, with adjustable strength and downsampling.
