Description

Portal Shader Breakdown (May 2019) is a Cyanilux Shader Graph walkthrough for a wormhole portal on a flat unlit quad. Polar coordinates create the inward spiral (not Twirl), with distance clipping and noise-offset edges for a wobbling rim.

It samples seamless tileable noise through polar UVs: time pulls distance inward, and angle plus distance forms the swirl. Step and AlphaClipThreshold round the portal; HDR color and Bloom add glow.

For intermediate Unity artists who know Shader Graph; the Polar Coordinates post is linked for background. Notes cover Repeat imports, differences from an earlier tweet graph, and seam fixes with mipmaps off or LOD 0.

Structured as intro, notes, then screenshot-led breakdown; the scrolling-star effect is only in the tweet reference.

Useful for stylized portal VFX; Cyanilux tutorials are often linked in Unity shader communities with official docs.
