Description

RenderDoc is Baldur Karlsson's MIT-licensed graphics debugger at renderdoc.org with sources on GitHub. It captures one frame from Vulkan, D3D11, D3D12, OpenGL, GLES, or Metal on Windows, Linux, Android, and authorized Nintendo Switch builds, then replays offline.

The UI exposes pipeline state, descriptors, mesh previews, texture viewers, pixel history, and shader disassembly without modifying the target app. Embedded Python supports batch exports; Unity and Unreal ship integrations for in-editor captures.

Setup emphasizes low friction: inject or launch via RenderDoc, hotkey a capture, and share portable .rdc files for collaborative debugging. Maintainer contact remains direct for NDA projects.

Feature support evolves with APIs; release notes on GitHub document ray tracing and extension coverage by version.

Widely regarded in the graphics programming community as the default cross-API frame debugger for PC and mobile development.
